| The Matterhorn (4478m) looming over the Italian ski resort of Cervinia (c. 2000m). Outcrops here provide access to the base of the Dent Blanche nappe and the lower slopes contain excellent exposures of metasediments of the Combin Zone. Both in turn overlie tectonically the ophiolitic units of the Zermatt-Saas Zone. |
