The
section through the south side of Arkle is visible from the Laxford-Lairg
road (A838). Although not as spectacular as that in Srath Dionard, the Arkle
section has the advantage of being seen from the road (clouds permitting).
The unconformity of Cambrian on the Lewisian may be clearly picked out on
the SW flank of Arkle. Further SE along this cliff
line the quartzites steepen up from their foreland dip and thrust ramps may
be identified by bedding cut-offs.
