Classic
shear zone from Castel Odhair in the outer Hebrides. This is one of the type
examples described by Ramsay and Graham. The deformation fabric is restricted
to lie within the shear zone. Outside the rocks are isotropic (have a "salt
and pepper" random mineral alignment). We are looking down on the outcrop surface.
What sense of motion does the fabric swing imply for this shear zone?
