5. Soils

Most soils have A, B and C horizons in some form

The horizons are easily detected in well-drained temperate soils. Some soils in semi-arid areas or where drainage is very poor may have different characteristics. The structure of soils consequently varies from place to place depending on the interactions of the soil forming forces of climate, topography and parent materials.
