Giulia Montanari
Research Interests:
I am interested in understanding the equilibrium between crystal surfaces and aqueous solutions, especially the phenomena affecting precipitation and growth of minerals causing scaling problems. I will focus on the interaction between mineral compounds in solutions containing additives, which are able to inhibit nucleation and crystal growth processes. I will study precipitation and growth processes at the molecular level and test hypotheses in simplified systems to investigate one parameter at a time, using high definition surface analytical techniques.
