Looking ~E from Loch Glencoul towards the Stac of Glencoul. The Moine Thrust (MT) carries Precambrian metasedimentary schists (MS) over Cambrian Quartzite Mylonites (not shown). At the base, the Glencoul Thrust (GT) emplaces Archaean Lewisian Gneisses (LG) over Cambro-Ordovician imbricated sediments (I). The Sole Thrust (ST) passes beneath the loch. |
