The VSG is involved in collaborations with many other projects and groups.
Prof Jurgen Neuberg is co-chairman of the IASPEI/IAVCEI Joint Commission on Volcano Seismology, whose fundamental aim is to promote volcano seismology as a tool to gain a better understanding of the dynamics of volcanoes and improve our ability to accurately predict their behaviour.
Prof. Neuberg, is also chairman of the ESC Working Group, which is a well-established workshop that has a long history of bringing together researchers to investigate volcanic earthquakes. This ranges from the seismic monitoring of volcanoes to interpretation of the seismic signals.
Some aspects of the present VSG research is centred on the Soufrière Hills Volcano, Montserrat. Therefore we have close links with the Montserrat Volcano Observatory, The Seismic Research Unit (SRU), University of the West Indies, Trinidad and the British Geological Survey.
Members of the VSG were major contributors to the European funded MULTIMO project. A collaborative project which involved many different volcanic and scientific disciplines, with members from 11 universities and companies based in 7 different countries.
