M.Geophys. Project - Two and Three Dimensional Conduit Flow Modelling to investigate possible sources of low-frequency earthquakes.

Project Aims:

• Use flow modelling to investigate what conduit geometries cause critical shear stress to be exceeded within the conduit, resulting in brittle failure of the magma and consequently, the triggering of low-frequency seismic signals.

• Use these geometric models to generate synthetic seismic signals and compare to real signals from Montserrat.
  

• Final year of four year undergraduate M.Geophys degree, with international year at Pennsylvania State University, U.S.A..
