The simplest form of reproduction is asexual
The simplest form of reproduction is seen in single-celled organisms, which simply divide in two after first duplicating their genetic material. This produces offspring that are genetically identical to their single parent, unless mutations (mistakes in the copying process) take place. Similar examples of asexual reproduction are also seen in some simple multicellular animals, such as sea anemones and worms, and are quite common in the plant kingdom, where they are often found in combination with sexual reproduction.
