Commitment at international level is vital for
achievement of environmentally sustainable development
The international level is vital both
because we now face environmental problems that are world-wide
in their scale and effects (such as climate change), and because
we are increasingly part of a global community. Government and
businesses in the international community should take up,
fulfill and enforce environmental and ethical e commitments, and
help less developed countries to improve their trade
opportunities through development assistance, business
partnerships and sharing of expertise.
- Support
international development goals to create sustainable
livelihoods for all
people, promote human development, and conserve the environment
- Build
partnerships with donors and recipients - private and public
sector
- Ensure
that all aid, trade and investment, agricultural and
environmental policies
meet sustainable development principles
- Build
support for sustainable development policies through education
- Establish
and implement international agreements on sustainable
development
and the environment
- Continually
review priorities for future co-operation and press others to do
the same
- Tackle
illegal activities which undermine progress - unlawful trade in
substances
that damage the ozone layer,
endanger species and produce hazardous waste
